Basketball Recap: Springstead's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Springstead was feeling good fresh off their 64-43 takedown of Crystal River last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Springstead Eagles took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Sumter Raiders.

Springstead's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Sayre, who posted 16 points. Sayre is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Jamin Pond was another key player, going 5 for 6 en route to 10 points and five boards.

Springstead's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-9. As for South Sumter, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.

Springstead will head out on the road to challenge Hernando at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Springstead is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season. South Sumter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
