Football Game Preview: Mt. Vernon/Plankinton vs. Lead-Deadwood

It's playoff time, and Lead-Deadwood and Mt. Vernon/Plankinton are set to clash on Thursday . Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.

Lead-Deadwood had a rough outing against Custer two weeks ago, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. Lead-Deadwood took their match against Red Cloud last Thursday by a conclusive 40-12 score. The rankings were on Lead-Deadwood's side, but they didn't forecast quite such a lopsided result.

Meanwhile, everything went Mt. Vernon/Plankinton's way against Stanley County as they made off with a 42-14 victory. The lopsided score is just par for the course this season for Mt. Vernon/Plankinton, who can brag about seven blowout wins.

Their wins bumped Lead-Deadwood to 7-2 and Mt. Vernon/Plankinton to 8-1. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton and Lead-Deadwood will really light up the scoreboard.
