Volleyball Game Preview: Archbishop McNicholas Rockets vs. Meadowbrook Colts

The Archbishop McNicholas Rockets will challenge the Meadowbrook Colts at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Archbishop McNicholas comes in on seven and Meadowbrook on ten.

Archbishop McNicholas' tournament run continued when they took on Bishop Fenwick on Saturday. The Rockets walked away with a 3-1 win over the Falcons.

Archbishop McNicholas had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-20, 25-22, 25-17.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Meadowbrook had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They blew past the Red Raiders 3-0.

Meadowbrook not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept London between 18 and 20 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-20.

Meadowbrook's win came from a few key players Archbishop McNicholas will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Journey Nicola, who had 11 digs and five assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in October. Addy Sichina was another key player, getting 33 assists and seven digs.

Archbishop McNicholas' victory bumped their record up to 26-2. As for Meadowbrook, their win bumped their record up to 25-2.

Archbishop McNicholas took their victory against Meadowbrook when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
