Everson Nelson and Noah Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Nelson scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Evans went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Nelson has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Doughty, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Flatirons Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain Lutheran unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Bishop Machebeuf, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
Blake Harris was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Gavin Borchardt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Flatirons Academy pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Flatirons Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .468. It's a different story for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, though, as they've only averaged .212. Will they be able to contain Flatirons Academy's hitters?
