Basketball Game Preview: Smithfield Sentinels vs. Mt. Hope Huskies

The Smithfield Sentinels will head out on the road to face off against the Mt. Hope Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Hope took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Smithfield, who comes in off a win.

Smithfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 61-48 win over Johnston on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sentinels.

Meanwhile, Mt. Hope faced Scituate in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Mt. Hope fell 45-36 to Scituate. The Huskies just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Mt. Hope now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Smithfield, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Smithfield beat Mt. Hope 41-34 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Smithfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
