Baseball Recap: Garden City Takes a Loss

Garden City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hays Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on Friday.

Drew Strecker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bo Roth, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Garden City's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Hays, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garden City will venture away from home to take on Goodland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hays, they will challenge Great Bend at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 3, the Panthers 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
