Baseball Recap: Incarnate Word Academy Comes Up Short

Incarnate Word Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holy Cross Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-2 back in March.

Maddox Luera was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Davis Tyler, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Incarnate Word Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Holy Cross, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Incarnate Word Academy and Holy Cross will both be playing Geneva the next time they take the field. The Knights will host the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Angels will host them at 7:00 p.m. on the 15th.
