Softball Recap: Juanita Comes Up Short

Juanita extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 10-10 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Washington Kangaroos. Ravens fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Kangaroos since on Friday.

Elliott Parker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Keeley Cohen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwyn Reynolds, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Lake Washington's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 23, 2024.

On Lake Washington's side, Elise Roe was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two doubles. Malia Donohue was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Juanita will square off against Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lake Washington, they will take on Meadowdale at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mavericks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.83 runs per game on average), something the Kangaroos will no doubt try to take advantage of.
