After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Waterbury Career Academy, Wilby was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past the Crosby Bulldogs 3-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Wilby wouldn't go down easily and took Crosby into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-12, 20-25, 19-25, 15-10.

Evelyn Roca-Raymundo paced Wilby's offense, picking up 11 kills. Roca-Raymundo got some help from Jannelyz Marin and her 20 assists. Roca-Raymundo also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Danielle Pottinger, each putting up six.

Wilby's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Crosby, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Wilby will square off against rival Seymour at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Crosby is set to challenge their familiar foe Wolcott at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
