Baseball Recap: Thornton Academy Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Biddeford on Monday, Thornton Academy came back down to earth. The Trojans fell 6-2 to the South Portland Red Riots on Tuesday. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Riots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Thornton Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4-1. As for South Portland, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4.

Thornton Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Portland, they will square off against Scarborough at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Riots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Storm have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
