Football Recap: Deweyville Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Hull-Daisetta last Friday, Deweyville came back down to earth. The Pirates took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evadale Rebels on Friday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

It was another big night for Brett Buckner, who threw for 315 yards and five TDs, and also rushed for 66 yards and one score for Evadale. Buckner's passing game has become a key predictor of the Rebels' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Brantley Badger did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 57 receiving yards.

Deweyville's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Evadale, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Deweyville is set to challenge their familiar foe West Hardin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Evadale will square off against rival West Sabine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
