Softball Recap: Bessemer City Has No Trouble Against Huffman

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tuscaloosa Academy, Bessemer City was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Huffman Vikings as they made off with a 13-5 win. Considering the Tigers have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Ni'Kayla Hardy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Whitley Phillips, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Bessemer City has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Huffman, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bessemer City will host Tuscaloosa Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Huffman, they will welcome Indian Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
