Softball Game Preview: North Springs Spartans vs. Lovett Lions

The North Springs Spartans will head out to challenge the Lovett Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. North Springs will be strutting in after a win while Lovett will be coming in after a loss.

North Springs is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Lithonia on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Kate Lott made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in August. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Jordan Masker was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jamie Masker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

North Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Lovett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 14-2 to Centennial.

Lovett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elle Kaufmann, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Lovett's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for North Springs, their record is now 7-12.
