Recap: Stone Tomcats vs. Poplarville Hornets

In what's become a running theme this season, the Stone Tomcats gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 63-30 victory over Poplarville at home. Given Stone's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Poplarville is ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stone to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jabori Moye, who scored 13 points along with nine assists and five steals. Moye continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ray Dennis, who scored 22 points along with two steals.

Stone has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Poplarville, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-22.

Stone will head out on the road to square off against East Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Central has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 20. As for Poplarville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Moss Point at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Moss Point focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
