Baseball Game Preview: St. John Eagles vs. Holden Rockets

The St. John Eagles will face off against the Holden Rockets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

St. John is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on False River with a sharp 17-5 victory on Saturday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Holden entered their tilt with Independence on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by an 18-3 margin over the Tigers. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Rockets this season.

Holden got a massive performance out of Aidan Hutchinson, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Hutchinson has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Billy Kemp, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

Holden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Holden now has a winning record of 3-2. As for St. John, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
