            Baseball Recap: La Jolla Vikings vs. Clairemont Chieftains        
        
		
        
        
            It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact La Jolla can now relate to. They fell just short of the Clairemont Chieftains by a score of  3-2 on Wednesday. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Chieftains recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

 Charlie Smith was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he  pitched five innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   six  hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in three consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, La Jolla saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Ryan Kestler, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run and one  double.
La Jolla's defeat dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Clairemont, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 15 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record  this season.
 La Jolla will host Bishop's  at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. The last three games the Knights have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Clairemont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
