Softball Recap: Hialeah Gardens Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Hialeah Gardens extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 10-7 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Mater Lakes Academy Bears. The result was nothing new for the Gladiators, who have now won nine games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Krystal Martinez was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Krystina Martinez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Hialeah Gardens lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

As for Mater Lakes Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

On Mater Lakes Academy's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicole Regalado, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hialeah Gardens will welcome Cypress Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lightning have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.73 runs per game on average), something the Gladiators will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Miami Springs at 3:30 p.m. The Bears are facing the Golden Hawks at the right time seeing as the Golden Hawks are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
