Baseball Recap: Eastside Comes Up Short

Eastside had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 8-8 to make it four. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Noble Knights. The Blazers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for East Noble, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

For East Noble's part, the team relied heavily on Jordan Borders, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs. Those six stolen bases gave Borders a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylan Hathaway, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastside will welcome Lakeland at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lakers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Blazers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for East Noble, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbia City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
