Baseball Game Preview: Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits vs. Paramount Pirates

The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits are taking a road trip to face off against the Paramount Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Long Beach Poly's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Paramount's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Long Beach Poly can't be too worried about heading out to take on Paramount: they just beat Paramount at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Jackrabbits blew past the Pirates 7-1 on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Jackrabbits, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Damian Marquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Long Beach Poly is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Giovanni Migliazza was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Tate Hammond, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win got Long Beach Poly back to even at 10-10. As for Paramount, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-9.
