Baseball Game Preview: Mariner Tritons vs. Riverview Sarasota Rams

The Mariner Tritons will challenge the Riverview Sarasota Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Mariner's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Riverview Sarasota has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Things were looking good for Mariner after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Evangelical Christian by a score of 3-2.

Princeton (PJ) Marino made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Ryan Kotarski was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Riverview Sarasota didn't have quite enough to beat Bonita Springs on Friday and fell 4-2.

Morgan Peggs was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Riverview Sarasota saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JR Hudson, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Riverview Sarasota's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Mariner, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
