Basketball Recap: New Trier's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but New Trier ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They managed a 53-49 victory over the Waukegan Bulldogs. The Trevians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hadassah Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The match was Brown's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Baakir Christian, who went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points and eight boards.

The win (which was New Trier's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Waukegan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-7.

New Trier won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Conant at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Conant will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something New Trier surely won't give up without a fight. As for Waukegan, they will face off against Warren Township at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Waukegan is facing Warren Township at the right time seeing as Warren Township is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
