Basketball Game Preview: Beekmantown Eagles vs. Saranac Lake Red Storm

The Beekmantown Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Saranac Lake Red Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Beekmantown beat Peru 61-55. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Nighthawks are ranked 798th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Saranac Lake waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 57-31 victory. The Red Storm have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Beekmantown is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points over those games. As for Saranac Lake, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Beekmantown didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Saranac Lake in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 45-41 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Saranac Lake's Caleb Akey, who went 8 of 19 to rack up 27 points and five boards.
