Softball Recap: Galena Comes Up Short

Galena suffered their closest defeat since April 11th on Friday. They fell just short of the Cuba City Cubans by a score of 15-13. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 8-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2017.

Galena dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Cuba City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Galena and Cuba City could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in their respective state rankings. The Pirates (ranked 441st) will meet Orangeville (ranked 151st) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Cuba City will challenge Mineral Point at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (162 vs. 10).
