Preview: Sky View Bobcats vs. Timpanogos Timberwolves
The Sky View Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the Timpanogos Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sky View is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Sky View pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Mountain Crest. The matchup was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but Sky View couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the defeat, Sky View got a solid performance out of Liam Guthrie, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Carson Thatcher, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Timpanogos struggled with assists two weeks ago (Layton Christian Academy had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Timpanogos was dealt a 72-44 loss at the hands of Layton Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Timpanogos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Layton Christian Academy is ranked eighth).
Timpanogos' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Steven LaPray, who scored 23 points, and Jack Johnson who scored eight points along with four steals.
Sky View has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Timpanogos, they dropped their record down to 13-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
