Baseball Recap: Mineola Victorious

Mineola proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Fairfield Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted since March 7, 2025.

Lawson Ollive made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Ollive was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Matthew Ballew was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two stolen bases, and two runs. Ballew is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Camden Roberts, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mineola now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Fairfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Mineola will square off against Ford at 8:15 a.m. on Friday. As for Fairfield, they will face off against Frankston at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
