Basketball Game Preview: Whitesboro Bulldogs vs. Smithville Braves

Whitesboro is 8-2 against Smithville since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Whitesboro Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Smithville Braves at 6:30 p.m. Whitesboro's defense has only allowed 29.7 points per game this season, so Smithville's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Back in December of 2024, Whitesboro didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against McCurtain, but they still walked away with a 36-30 win. The 36-point effort marked Whitesboro's lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Smithville put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Wright City 65-50. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Lumberjax are ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitesboro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Smithville, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0.

Whitesboro and Smithville were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but Whitesboro came up empty-handed after a 42-41 loss. Can Whitesboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
