Baseball Recap: Angola Hornets vs. Fremont Eagles
Angola had lost seven straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it eight. They lost 17-5 to the Fremont Eagles. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Jackson Steury and Myles Steury did some serious damage despite the final result: Jackson went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Myles went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Myles has launched this season.
As for Fremont, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Fremont's side, Colten Guthrie made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Guthrie has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Angola will venture away from home to square off against Garrett at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fremont, they will head out to take on Leo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
