Baseball Recap: Overton Comes Up Short

If Overton was feeling good fresh off their 18-9 takedown of Hillsboro on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats fell just short of the Lawson Lightning by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The Bobcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lightning earlier this season, when they won 11-10.

Overton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Bennett, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Overton's loss dropped their record down to 18-15. As for Lawson, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-13 record this season.

Overton and Lawson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Bobcats (ranked 248th) will meet Beech (ranked 46th) on Friday. Meanwhile, Lawson will challenge Hendersonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (212 vs. 67).
