Defensive lineman Tommy Schutt joins receiver Eugene Lewis and cornerback Armani Reeves in big recruiting week.

While ageless coach Joe Paterno recovers from injuries suffered in a recent practice collision, the Penn State University football team is quite healthy on the recruiting front, picking up three big commitments this week.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported the biggest catch: defensive tackle Tommy Schutt of Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn, Ill.). The 6-foot-3, 295-pounder had 67 tackles, 23 for losses and 15 sacks last year and is ranked as the No. 46 player in the senior class by CBS/MaxPreps recruiting analyst Tom Lemming.

* Meanwhile, the Harrisburg Patriot-News reported two other Class of 2012 commitments for the Nittany Lions.

They included wide receiver Eugene Lewis (6-1, 180) of Wyoming Valley West (Plymouth, Pa.) and cornerback Armani Reeves of Catholic Memorial School (West Roxbury, Mass.). Lewis also considered Maryland and Virginia Tech. Reeves, who is a cousin of former NBA great Charles Barkley, also considered Notre Dame and Michigan.
