The Poinciana Eagles will take on the Celebration Storm in a tournament on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Poinciana took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Liberty with a sharp 18-3 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Savannah Alsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Poinciana got a massive performance out of Izabella Rodriguez, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Rodriguez a new career-high in doubles (two). Ashley Figueroa was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Celebration never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Gateway last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Panthers.
Like Poinciana, Celebration also got a great game from a two-way player: Bella Bayona. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Bayona was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Gigi Reyes and Ariana Rosado did most of the damage at the plate: Reyes went a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Rosado got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Maria La Cruz, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Celebration was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Celebration is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Poinciana, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Everything went Poinciana's way against Celebration when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Poinciana made off with a 16-1 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
