Springfield Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the McDonald County Mustangs by a score of 52-45.

McDonald County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamie Washam, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 boards. That's the most rebounds Washam has posted since back in February of 2024. Dakota O'Brien was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Springfield Catholic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. As for McDonald County, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield Catholic will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. As for McDonald County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Neosho at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
