Baseball Recap: Space Coast Drops Season-High Score on Calvary Chapel Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Space Coast). They put the hurt on the Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles with a sharp 23-4 win on Friday. The Vipers have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Jacob Leos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). Leos was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Kayden Thomas was a standout: he scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Space Coast is 2-1 when Thomas posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joseph Henry, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Space Coast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The victory got Space Coast back to even at 4-4. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Space Coast will welcome Titusville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Titusville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they will face off against Tradition Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Calvary Chapel Academy has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
