Basketball Recap: Father Capodanno Takes a Loss

Father Capodanno was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 39-6 loss at the hands of The O'Neal School Falcons. The Grunts were down 29-2 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Father Capodanno lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Grace Brinkmeyer, who posted two points and five boards.

The O'Neal School found their leader in sophomore Judah Sibley, who had 15 points along with seven boards and seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for Sibley. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofie Itegie, who put up three points and ten steals.

Father Capodanno's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for The O'Neal School, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Father Capodanno will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Asheboro Hybrid Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for The O'Neal School, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-15 win against Fayetteville Christian on the 11th.
