Basketball Recap: Leyton's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kimball, Leyton was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They skirted past the Morrill Lions 52-49. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Leyton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Calvin Borgmann, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Borgmann has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Beutler, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Morrill lost, don't look at Ashwin Pittman. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points and three steals. Wyler Fisher was another key player, putting up 14 points.

The victory got Leyton back to even at 1-1. As for Morrill, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Leyton will head out to challenge Peetz at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morrill, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 67-34 win against Hay Springs on the 10th.
