Softball Recap: Lynchburg-Clay Comes Up Short

Lynchburg-Clay lost against Fairfield back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mustangs took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.

Lynchburg-Clay saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison McMullen, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Lynchburg-Clay's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Fairfield, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lynchburg-Clay will challenge rival Fayetteville-Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Fairfield is set to face off against their familiar foe Manchester at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3.6, the Greyhounds 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
