Baseball Game Preview: Hoggard Vikings vs. Wilmington Christian Academy Patriots

Hoggard is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Wilmington Christian Academy a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Hoggard Vikings will welcome the Wilmington Christian Academy Patriots at 7:00 p.m. The last six games Hoggard has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Things were looking good for Hoggard after they put the first runs on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Grimsley by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by just one run.

Hoggard saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Bush, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Bush is becoming a predictor of the Vikings' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-11 when he doesn't). Another was Jonah Harker, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Wilmington Christian Academy came up short against Trinity on Monday and fell 8-5.

Wilmington Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Hoggard, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Everything went Hoggard's way against Wilmington Christian Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2017, as Hoggard made off with an 18-0 win. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
