Recap: Woodcreek Timberwolves vs. Antelope Titans
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Woodcreek Timberwolves ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Antelope 62-59. Given Woodcreek's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Antelope is ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aidan Triplet was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joey Nielsen, who scored 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Antelope lost, one person who can't be blamed is Logan Melton. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 4 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Melton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Cook, who scored 12 points.
Woodcreek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Antelope, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Woodcreek will be playing in front of their home fans against Yuba City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Yuba City has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Woodcreek will arrive with three straight wins. As for Antelope, they will head out on the road to take on Bella Vista at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
