Basketball Recap: Russellville Takes a Loss

Russellville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They were beaten by the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats 65-27. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-16.

Reesha Cawthorn was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards for Franklin-Simpson. The matchup was Cawthorn's third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Kloie Smith, who went 5 of 9 to rack up 12 points and five rebounds.

Russellville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Franklin-Simpson, their win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2.

Russellville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-27 loss against Allen County-Scottsville on the 11th. As for Franklin-Simpson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-56 victory against Todd County Central on the 10th.
