Sparta took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Coopersville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Broncos 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since April 29th.

Taliya Dauser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alaysia Hammock, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Sparta's win bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Coopersville, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Broncos beat Sparta by a score of 9-1 later that day.
