Football Game Preview: Delta Eagles vs. New Palestine Dragons

Delta is 0-10 against New Palestine since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will welcome the Dragons at 7:30 p.m.

Things were looking good for Delta after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 24-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greenfield-Central. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 7-0 in the first quarter.

Delta might have lost, but man, Aven Thomas was a machine: he rushed for 108 yards and a pair of scores. Thomas also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Eagles are 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, New Palestine strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They really took it to New Castle for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-0 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Dragons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Trojans are ranked 133rd).

Delta better focus on containing Mason Oglesby and Jacob Davis as the pair were huge in New Palestine's win. Oglesby gained 149 total yards and a touchdown, while Davis threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 88 yards. Another big playmaker for New Palestine was Cameron Rollyson, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

New Palestine's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Delta, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
