Softball Game Preview: Hays Hawks vs. Lehman Lobos

Hays has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lehman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Hawks will head out to take on the Lobos at 7:00 p.m. Neither Hays nor Lehman posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Hays managed to slip by Liberty Hill the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks came up short against the Panthers on Friday, falling 8-0.

Makayla Munoz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hays saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teuila Eteaki, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Lehman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 10-0 to Rouse. That's two games in a row now that the Lobos have lost by exactly ten runs.

Hays' loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Lehman, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16-1.

Hays skirted past Lehman 13-11 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
