Football Recap: Boles Comes Up Short

While it was Boles who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Whitewright who put up more. The Hornets were just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to the Tigers. The Hornets were up 14-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

When it comes to explaining why Boles lost, don't look at Elijah Granado. Despite the final result, he rushed for 102 yards, and also picked up 44 receiving yards and one TD.

Even if they lost, Boles' defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Luke Scoggins, Brady Martin, and Marshall Barecky, who each picked up one sack apiece.

This is the second loss in a row for Boles and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Whitewright, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Boles will take on Celeste at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Whitewright, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
