Softball Preview: Harriman Blue Devils vs. Greenback Cherokees

The Harriman Blue Devils are on the road again on Tuesday to play the Greenback Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Harriman came up short against Webb and fell 23-18.

Zoey Kring was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Mason, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Harriman didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Greenback entered their tilt with Oakdale with 13 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 14. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 14-0 shutout on Monday. Considering Greenback has won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jennifer Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Jones has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Jones was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Greenback got a big performance out of Karli Hammontree, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Katie Jones, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
