Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Northwest Falcons vs. York Dukes

The Lincoln Northwest Falcons will head out on the road to take on the York Dukes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln Northwest has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with 22 straight defeats, while York will come in with five straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Lincoln Northwest had to suffer through a 58-27 loss at the hands of Gretna East. The game marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led York over Schuyler in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that York blew Schuyler out of the water with a 46-3 final score. The team accrued 37 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.

Lincoln Northwest better keep an eye on Lainey Portwine. She was instrumental in York's win, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Chloe Koch, who posted nine points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

York smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

York's record is now 7-1. As for Lincoln Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Lincoln Northwest was dealt a bruising 73-41 defeat at the hands of York in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Lincoln Northwest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
