After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Charlotte Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Providence Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Panthers last Tuesday, they had to take a 12-2 loss.

The team relied heavily on Jon Fijalkowski, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

Charlotte Catholic's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Providence, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Charlotte Catholic will welcome Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Providence, they will head out on the road to challenge Butler at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Butler's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
