Basketball Recap: Alcona Takes a Loss

Alcona lost against Oscoda back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Alcona Tigers took a blow against the Oscoda Owls, falling 65-17. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 607th, while the Owls are ranked 158th).

This is the second loss in a row for Alcona and nudges their season record down to 3-13. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-5 Rogers City (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 80.2% over those games). As for Oscoda, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

Looking ahead, Alcona will take on Tawas Area at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oscoda, they will challenge Rogers City at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Oscoda's defense has only allowed 22.5 points per game this season, so Rogers City's offense will have their work cut out for them.
