Baseball Recap: Gateway's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

After flying high against McGuffey last Monday, Gateway came back down to earth. Gateway fell just short of the South Allegheny Gladiators by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The loss was the Gators' first of the season.

Jon Saunders made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Donovan Deluco also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gateway fell to 3-1. As for South Allegheny, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Gateway will venture away from home to square off against McKeesport at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Gateway is facing McKeesport at the right time seeing as McKeesport is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for South Allegheny, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Shady Side Academy at 7:00 p.m.
