Ashe County took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against West Wilkes, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Ashe County Huskies had just enough and edged out the West Wilkes Blackhawks 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Huskies: when they faced off against the Blackhawks back in February, they had to take a 12-5 loss.

Ashe County let Addi Williams and Ava Roten run wild. Williams scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Roten scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That stolen base was Williams' first of the season. Hannah Osborne was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Ashe County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for West Wilkes, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashe County will face off against Hibriten at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hibriten will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Ashe County surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Wilkes, they will take on Surry Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
