Basketball Recap: Emma Alcalay Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Boca Raton Christian

Olympic Heights won against FAU High last Tuesday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Olympic Heights Lions secured a 55-49 W over the Boca Raton Christian Blazers. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Blazers are ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Olympic Heights got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Alcalay out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten assists. Alcalay is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Logan Waller was another key player, putting up 15 points and three steals.

Alcalay wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Olympic Heights was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Blazers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Delaney Cronin, who posted 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaila Maser, who scored 16 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Olympic Heights and bumps their season record up to 13-1. As for Boca Raton Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Olympic Heights has already played their next matchup, a 51-32 win against Dr. Joaquin Garcia on the 27th. As for Boca Raton Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-8 victory against Berean Christian on the 27th.
