Russell entered their tilt with Plainville on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Cardinals. Considering the Broncos have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Trey Zorn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sam Thielen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Russell is 11-4 when Thielen posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Jaxon Ross was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Russell's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Plainville, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Russell will face off against Thomas More Prep-Marian on Friday. The Monarchs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Broncos' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Plainville, they will take on Ellsworth on Friday. The Bearcats will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
